Waiting for the Moose

by Pierre Chaput

We owned a summer cottage in the Laurentian mountains for thirty years. I canoed very frequently at dawn to watch the sunrise over the foggy swamp, the sunlit drops of dew in the small cedars, and larches. The view, animated by ducks, herons and beavers have left me with many dear souvenirs, albeit few moose.
