Sometimes when I’m painting I see a perspective take shape, like here, where the foreground appears to be a bluff overlooking the shore. Perhaps there is a rocky path leading down to the sand. I decided to leave it loose, with no detail, as not to lose the perspective that had just appeared so magically. The solitude of this place seemed reverent, so I called it ‘Prayer without Words’.
