Mudlarking I

by Catherine Gutsche

This is part of a four part series that was painted at an artist’s residency in 2021 on Toronto Island just off the south shore of Toronto, Canada. It was inspired by morning walks on the beach where the artist found many foreign items washed up on shore.

Acrylic and Stabilo pencil on watercolour paper, mounted on birch panel
12 x 9 in

This painting, on heavy, beautifully textured acid-free watercolour paper, is 12 x 9. It is mounted on a gallery depth, made-in-Canada, Baltic birch panel with varnished edges to enhance the modern look of the natural light coloured wood. It is wired and ready to hang. It can be hung right out of the box or framed. A clear, non-removable, archival, acrylic gloss varnish has been applied to the surface, emphasizing the colours and preserving the pigments from UV light. This varnish also protects the surface and sides from the environment.

This painting is one of a series of four. Should you be interested in the complete set, please click here: ‘Mudlarking Series‘.
