Morning Skyline I

by Catherine Gutsche

This work is part of a three part series called “Morning Skyline”. It was painted at an artist’s residency in 2021 on Toronto Island just off the south shore of Toronto, Canada. It was inspired by the artist’s morning walks on the beach looking towards the western shore of the city beyond the breakers where the sky created pink buildings.

Acrylic and Stabilo pencil on watercolour paper, mounted on birch panel
12 x 9 in

This painting, on heavy. beautifully textured acid-free watercolour paper, is 12 x 9. It is mounted on a gallery depth, made-in-Canada, Baltic birch panel with varnished edges to enhance the modern look of the natural light coloured wood. It is wired and ready to hang.  It can be hung right out of the box or framed.  A clear, non-removable, archival, acrylic gloss varnish has been applied to the surface, emphasizing the colours and preserving the pigments from UV light. This varnish also protects the surface and sides from the environment.

This is one part of a series of three paintings. Should you be interested in the complete set, please click here: ‘Morning Skyline Series‘.
