Dream Journal

by Christopher Cape

The prolific amount of road work that happens in Guelph during the summer has forced commuters to slow down when driving through the downtown core.

One great side effect of this is the numerous amount of cement barriers blocking off whole lanes of traffic. The perfect little nest to set up an easel.

Within my fortress of solitude and painted over two sessions this was an exercise in concentration. Busy traffic and idling cars one lane over meant privacy was at a minimum.

The response of the commuters was all the encouragement I needed.

Felt like a performance artist.
