Born, raised and living in Toronto, Ontario. I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at York University, majoring in painting. After a hiatus, I have returned to my love of painting.
I enjoy the fluidity and organic nature of watercolour painting. The water is the conduit that flows where the brush and other tools lead and push it. Or it can take a life on its own, moving freely across the paper. Watercolour painting can offer serendipitous surprises as well as challenges as it is a medium that can be unforgiving. I draw inspiration from nature to create abstract impressionistic paintings. I look for patterns in nature, particularly in water, rocks and trees that are translated into textures, shapes, and tones in my art. Sometimes paintings pop from my imagination from a memory. Sometimes a photo or another artist will serve as inspiration. Sometimes paintings freely reveal themselves while being painted. Sometimes paintings are planned but the medium changes the outcome.
As a self-taught watercolourist, I enjoy experimenting and discovering new techniques in the medium. Enjoying and being immersed in the process of creating is fulfilling to me as an artist. Painting is a reflective experience.
