I create joy-filled abstract paintings sparked by the energy and movement in nature. Each creation is a process of discovery fuelled by my imagination and my love of colour. Having grown up on Prince Edward Island, my art is awash with expressions of weather and water—images of its amazing natural beauty float in and out of my consciousness as I create. Only after the paintings are finished do the titles declare themselves.
Other forms of artistic expression also influence the look and feel of my work. My background as a dancer gives it a sense of movement and a lyrical quality, while my skills as a modern quilt designer are always at my fingertips when it comes to process and compositional considerations. I aim for an overall result that is full of energy and has a fresh, relaxed and contemporary style.
When I create art it lifts me out of day-to-day stresses, both personal ones and the bigger ones we share in our current world. I am always so encouraged and motivated by viewers' comments about my work as it seems to resonate with them in this way too:
“Love all your artwork - so happy and full of light and energy and beauty! The world needs that vision.” - Facebook follower
“There is so much sun and cheer and positive energy in what you do; love it!” - Website visitor
