Julea Boswell creates lyrical abstract paintings that are sparked by the energy and movement in nature. Speaking about her art, she says "Images of nature’s amazing beauty float in and out of my consciousness as I create. Having lived most of my adult life near the awesome Ottawa River and having grown up on beautiful Prince Edward Island, my art is awash with expressions of weather, water and wildflowers." Each work is realized through a process of discovery fuelled by her imagination, love of colour and sense of movement. This produces paintings that are full of joyful movement and has a fresh, contemporary style.
For Julea, creating art lifts her out of day-to-day stresses, both her personal ones and the bigger ones in our current world. She is always moved by how viewers respond to her work, as it seems to resonate with them in this way too.
