My passions vary from photography, design, and printmaking, to sculpture and painting. I generally create large pieces that are elegant and sophisticated, such as musical instruments or scenery. I sometimes like to push myself to create pieces that are more edgy. My favorite project overall is my dress constructed completely of book pages, that I wore to my critique. It was on display at the Vera Bracken Library at Medicine Hat College (Alberta) from 2016-2018. I have also had several pieces exhibited at the One on One gallery in the Cultural Center, also at Medicine Hat College. Most recently I have displayed and sold several pieces at a local coffee shop in my hometown in Saskatchewan.
I am most inspired by the world around me. I am always spending time with family and friends (virtually these days!). I appreciate both nature and urban areas. I look to a change of scenery when I am searching for inspiration. As students, we had been told to take a walk or go outside when we are brainstorming for a new idea. I live by this. It gives me time to relax and take a step back from my work. For that period of time, I can enjoy the little things in life. Once I stop to absorb those things, it makes feeling creative much easier. I want to pursue a future in Visual Communications because I want to express myself. I have a passion for the arts and I want my viewers to know that persistence pays off.
